Aayesha is a computer engineer and a full stack developer by profession. She has been actively involved in the Safer-I campaign since the starting days when it used to be an online campaign and is now serving as Tech and Innovation Lead.
Looking back at when she started her career, she recalls building the applications just to complete her projects. But today, she thinks human-centred design is the key to anything you build – from product and service design to systems or space design. As someone who is working to transform lives through tech, she believes we must first overcome the biases that perpetuate inequalities and that technology should be for all, irrespective of their gender, sexuality or forms of ability.
At Safer I, Aayesha is involved in creating informative posts for social media; writing blogs and conducting research on topics related to internet security, ethical and accessible technology; looking after the organization website; community engagement with different virtual and in-person workshops for diverse age groups, starting from school kids at Canopy Nepal to adult women at Illam Bazar. In 2020, she got to work with some GEDSI experts to formulate Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) policy for the organization, which is still being implemented. Aayesha hopes to see the digital world without any partiality, where everyone has equal access to all the means and resources on the internet.
