2022 for Safer I,

2022 was the year of growth for Safer I, our voice for digital literacy reached 4 provinces of Nepal in different forms. We started the community of digital rights advocacy, represented ourselves in many feminist spaces, gave training about accessible and inclusive technology, conducted grass-root research, established our website, and amplified our solidarity for vulnerable groups in technology which includes women, queer and disabled people, ran election campaign for safe information and many more.

Safer-I touched Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Dang, Lamjung, Ilam, and Pokhara with digital hygiene advocacy reaching 465+ beneficiaries in 4 provinces of Nepal. We collaborated with 4 fellow initiatives to reach this goal with a similar mission and vision. Our initiation was recognized as ‘Community Initiative of the year’ by Women Tech Network. Our campaign lead, Nirisha Manandhar represented our work at ‘Global Sexuality, Gender, and Rights Institute’ in Croatia in May 2022.

We produced 24 new digitally smart mums from Ilam and conducted research on ‘Data Privacy and Data Collection Concerns in Social Media Platforms Among Emerging Adults in Nepal’. Hence we were successful to established five natures of the program alongside 27500+ online beneficiaries.

One of the biggest strengths of Safer I is that this campaign was started from passion and friendships. So, when Sushobhan joined our team it was the cherry on top for us. Extra thankful for 2022 because of the team we made together.

Grateful to everyone who supported us in this journey as we enter 2023 with our ongoing mission to create a safe digital space for everyone. To bigger and brighter things to achieve for this community, we built together, a very happy new year 2023.
